Expansive Abundance.

Today we’ll examine the concept of abundance. When most people think of abundance, they imagine an excess of money or material goods. Little thought is given to the other intangibles that can add richness to our lives, and without which we find ourselves feeling empty and our experiences hollow.

A meme that proclaims "You can seek to have more and that will enrich you for a moment; or you can grow to be more and that will enrich you for eternity."

This is a meme I created a few years ago after a deep meditation on the emptiness of materialism. I’ve posted it quite a few times and every once in a while someone comments something to the effect of “Why can’t we have both abundance and personal growth?” The answer is (drum roll please) we can! The two are not mutually exclusive. This meme is asking us what our focus is on; temporary happiness or eternal growth of character? My personal experience is that when you put your focus on the latter, you also experience the former. Unfortunately when you concentrate all your mental energy on material gain, it rarely leads to an increase in compassion, morality and integrity. Quite the opposite. Countless examples can be shown of people through the ages who became greedy and it led to a total meltdown of their spirituality. Like an addict, they became addicted to acquisition because it gave some momentary happiness and sense of accomplishment. However, the more they acquired, the less joy each new possession brought to them.

A quote from Socrates that proclaims: 'He who is not contented with what he has, would not be contented with what he would like to have."

The last two weeks we’ve been visiting with those wise old Greeks from Athens past, and our good buddy Socrates, “The Father of Western Philosophy” has much to say on this topic as well. Boy and howdy, does he ever!

Socrates was a profound observer of human nature and as a result he came to the conclusion that there is no lasting happiness to be gained by materialism.

In fact, Socrates pretty much decimates all “control freaks” who think they can engineer happiness by achieving a state where they are impervious to change and therefore pain. His advice is to expect and appreciate change because it is a necessary component of the growth of character that life is designed to bring to us.

A quote from Socrates that proclaims: 'If you don't get what you want, you suffer; If you get what you don't want, you suffer; even when you get exactly what you want, you still suffer because you can't hold on to it forever."

Let me say right here, that in my life, I have experienced impoverishment (and the constant stress it causes) and the abundance of finances (and the peace and tranquility it brings) and having abundance is better! Let me clarify that I’m not trying to say there is an inherent spiritual superiority to being impoverished (and staying poor). The only exception being that one can observe that once a person has experienced what it feels like to do without, they are more compassionate to others who are experiencing a lack of finances in their reality.

In our blog MANIFESTATION: From Frustration To Realization! we put forth the premise that we must embrace change and “ride the wild tide” if we want to master the art of conscious creation aka mind manifestation. However, I’m also aware that some people actually want (or need) to experience negative and regressive situations in order to balance some karma they subconsciously perceive they have from this or another life- but that’s a whole other blog article.

A meme that proclaims: "When you need less you will have more."

What we’re exploring here today is NEED vs. GREED. In our modern society we’re constantly bombarded with commercial messages that are designed to psychologically manipulate us into materialistic thinking. Each advertiser positions their product as what we need to buy in order to feel happy and content with ourselves and our status. But even with all our material goods, are we modern humans more happy with our lives and ourselves?

If we consider the amount of “feel good” drugs and “comfort foods” we consume as a gauge, one can easily see that the answer is no.

Once again, let me reiterate for those in the back, I’m not saying having material possessions is bad, what I’m hoping to discourage is the idea that happiness and fulfillment are tied to how much we possess in money or material goods.

I know many people who are minimalists and are very happy. When you see how they live, they have nothing extraneous to their needs- which are few. Lacking the need to impress others, they choose their possessions for value and not what status they might confer from those vacuous and clueless ones who judge one’s worth by their material possessions. As a result, the minimalists have very nice, durable things and live very comfortably and contentedly with no stress or desire to compete in the rat-race. They are able to save for the future and have the experiences that bring value to their lives. I aspire to be like them.

A meme that compares hoarders to those who wealthy and stingy.

When I worked for the TV show “USA Corporate Profiles” one of my jobs was to interview the CEO’s of major corporations- most of them millionaires many times over. With a few exceptions, you never saw a more miserable, stressed-out bunch of supposedly “successful role models.”

Personally, I’ve come to the conclusion that greed is a mental disorder caused by a spiritual deficit. In other words, it’s the lack of happiness that motivates the lust to acquire much more than is needed. When this fails to bring joy, the extreme frustration causes a mental unbalancing. “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing again and again and expecting different results.”

A meme that proclaims: "Your definition of abundance can also include the space you have in your life for rest, rejuvenation, naps, taking long breaks, practicing stillness, doing nothing."

What I would like you to think about is the true definition of abundance and the value of experience. Some experiences you can’t put a price tag on. They are so enriching to us emotionally and spiritually that if they weren’t a part of our life, we would know far fewer moments of pure joy. These can include many different things for a variety of people. Ask yourself what experiences do you value the most? What brings you the most lasting peace, tranquility and happiness? What fills you with a sense of wonder and joy? What confirms that you are being true to your higher self life plan? These are the things we should focus on and manifest more of in our lives to experience expansive abundance!

My latest book proposes alternative views on human history, extraterrestrial involvement, and societal manipulation. We explore ancient civilizations, discovering lost technologies and hidden truths about humanity’s past and future potential. My research suggests that remnants of advanced technologies exist worldwide. These remnants challenge the accepted historical narrative that minimizes our connection to these civilizations.

This book advocates for expanded consciousness and challenges societal norms imposed by a controlling elite. I also include over 250 full color images. I dare say, anyone who reads it with an open mind will have their beliefs about ancient history challenged! Their views on contemporary history will be challenged too. This is not only a book about manipulated history, but also about how our beliefs shape our current reality.

And finally, for Children of all ages, I wrote a book. It teaches in a fun and humorous way. It explains the concepts of being curious, open-minded, and a critical thinker. It explore the variety of ocean creatures.

Finnegan is a fish in the Great Wide Ocean who goes on a journey to see all he can of his watery world. He encounters many colorful characters along the way. Then he has an encounter that causes him to question the things he’s been taught in school. He and his Angelfish friend Gabby begin to explore the idea that there may be more to the world than the wet one they live in.

Many full color illustrations to captivate your youngster’s imagination. Takes approximately 10 minutes for an adult to read. Great for those bedtime stories!
