Non Player Characters.

In our blog post Unlocking Higher Consciousness, we put forth the premise that a body without a soul could be compared to a vacant house on the Real Estate Market. “Lights are on, but nobody’s home” would be another way of explaining the concept. And we supposed that just as a house can exist but not be a home, a body can be animated by the collective consciousness without having a soul. These are the so-called NPCs or Non Player Characters.

The term comes from the world of computer gaming where the program creates certain characters within the game to challenge and present obstacles to the (real) Players to add drama to the experience. Only by defeating the NPCs and their challenges can the player advance levels and win the game. The NPCs are without compassion, cannot be reasoned with and have no ability to think for themselves and behave in ways outside their programmed behavior. In addition to this, they only exist inside the game and have no ability to think creatively or critically. It is impossible for them to ask themselves “why am I behaving this way?” in self-reflection. Nor is it possible for them to change their programmed behavior and become a better version of themselves.

I’m not sure if it was the advancement of the video game or the premise of the movie The Matrix or the revolutionary expositions of Doloris Cannon (or a combination of all three) concerning the “backdrop people“, but we now have the concept within the collective consciousness that not everyone we encounter is a full-functioning human being with a soul. Rather some may exist only as extras in a movie (or theatrical play) to fill in the background and create the drama. Likewise in the movie The Matrix (heavily influenced by the writings of Phillip K. Dick 1928-1982) computer generated Agents are responsible for keeping the minds of the entrapped human population in a simulated reality so they can be used as an energy source. These agents can jump into any avatar in the Matrix and take control to further their agenda.

Thus we have today the idea that not everyone in this experience we call “reality” is in fact “real“. For that matter, what we consider to be “reality” may only be a simulation or dream that only feels real while we’re experiencing it unconsciously. Therefore, if one were to become lucid in the dream, (conscious) one would have the ability to alter it and defy the programming of the control system simulation.

Let’s return now to the theory that there may be those among the human population that are NPCs or Agents of the control system we will call The Matrix. What should our response be to this information? Should we seek to identify them and treat them differently? My response is that how we treat others (real or unreal) speaks more about us and who we are then who they are. To put it more concisely, if they exist to illicit a response from us, then how we respond is of paramount importance. Therefore we cannot go about discriminating against those who may or may not be NPCs by our estimation. We must regard all with equal dignity and respect.

After having made the above assertion, let me also state that the realization that there may be NPC agents at work to thwart our escape from a mind and action controlling matrix may be of help in certain ways. Just like the video game characters, we can see their challenges as necessary to us developing the skills needed to advance and win the game. While their interference might be annoying at times, there is no growth without challenges that motivate us to expand our capabilities and commitment. Therefore, we may even find gratitude for these contrarians.

Now that we’ve established the ground rules for our attitude and behavior toward possible NPC agents, let’s work at identifying them. First, like our video game adversaries they would be unable to question their beliefs and motivations. This inability to engage in self-reflection and critical thinking is a dead give-away. They would follow their programming without questioning- and they would demand others do so as well.

Not surprisingly, many of these NPC agents would gravitate toward authority positions so they might act as guardians of The Matrix. Their programming would give them a very judgmental attitude toward any who stepped outside or even questioned the validity of the prevailing social construct and its laws. They might even be model citizens, police officers, judges, religious leaders, politicians or academics.

We must also consider that another, opposite type of NPC agent could also exist. That would be the agent provocateur, whose programming would be to tempt, frustrate or provoke you into behavior that would cause you to be punished by the matrix agents and thereby be relegated to a place of lesser influence. They could also act to thwart your spiritual growth and conscious expansion. As in the movie “The Truman Show” they might also be responsible for creating situations that cause you to doubt your expanded awareness and insight into their control system and go back to living an unconscious soul crushing existence.

Some of you might be wondering if you could be an NPC agent. If you have the ability to ask that question, it means you’re not. As we said previously, an NPC cannot engage in self-reflection. In fact, it’s doubtful they would even have the interest to investigate (and the capacity to understand) these concepts.

The most liberating aspect to recognizing that a good portion or even majority of the population may be NPC agents is knowing that you are a genuine person who is a fractal of Divine Source- therefore they can do nothing harmful to you unless you allow it. In each encounter with a suspected NPC agent you can empower yourself by asking “What am I meant to learn from this situation? How might I grow and become a better, more skilled creator of my reality? In this way, like Neo in the movie series, you can become the Master over the Matrix!
